Human Resources Business Partner - Return to Work (RTW) Accommodations

We’re looking for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner - ADA Return to Work (RTW) Accommodations  to join our team!

The Human Resources Business Partner - ADA Return to Work (RTW) Accommodations will assist in the client’s efforts to coordinate and support the process for providing accommodations for the client’s employees with disabilities. This individual will collaborate with HR business partners, team leaders and employees to ensure that best practice reasonable accommodations and services are in place and coordinate compliance with regards to the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and California employment and privacy laws surrounding employees with disabilities. The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of a stay at work program for work-related or personal injuries and illnesses as well as programs to support employees returning to work after a work-related or personal injury. This role will also work closely identifying new projects to build effective plans to mitigate risk by analyzing data trends.

Only candidates with HR expertise and ADA return to the workplace planning will be considered. Experience with CA requirements ideal.  

This regular, full-time position based in Las Vegas, Nevada or may allow for a remote work arrangement.

Position Accountabilities
  • Provide expertise and support the client’s case management/coordination of the ADA accommodations and return to work process for end-to-end case management, including working with HR, the associate, vendors, work location, and other stakeholders
  • Provide knowledge, support and guidance to associates while performing activities related to short-term and long-term accommodations for employees at work or returning to work for medical-based accommodations
  • Leverage expertise to make recommendations on transitional work assignments or long-term accommodations within position based on restrictions as well as available tasks
  • Ensure effective communication of the transition work assignment plan or accommodation to the associate and obtain their agreement
  • Support coordination of the return to work, accommodations, and transitional work assignment program monitoring
  • Act as liaison between our third-party administrators, HR, EH&S, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, employees and other departments/systems as appropriate
  • Educate employees and other HR colleagues on complicated aspects of return to work, accommodations, and complex case processes
  • Provide guidance, assess risk, resolve issues, and escalate as appropriate for employees, managers and HR
  • Escalate complex issues including inability to accommodate, complex cases, and transitional work programs for guidance, providing expertise and recommendations
  • Assist in the maintenance of system records to ensure accurate and timely information documentation
  • Support file reviews, payroll adjustment and completion of EDD paperwork as needed
Candidate Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources Management, or closely related field; SHRM Certification or PHR Certification highly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an HR generalist or specialist role with expertise in leave of absence and return to the workplace accommodations, specifically in a return to the workplace capacity
  • Knowledge of federal and state disability laws, specifically ADAAA, FEHA and FMLA/CFRA; experience with CA leaves required
  • Knowledge of the interplay between the FMLA/CFRA, workers’ compensation, and the ADAAA
  • Knowledge and understanding of disability management, return-to-work strategies, ADAAA and related state and local statutes
  • Team player with experience in diverse workforce and high volume, complex case management for corporate-based and production/manufacturing-based employees
  • Ability to analyze, problem solve, organize and manage multiple priorities, and effectively follow up in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization, including remote areas and in manufacturing environments

  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) preferred; familiarity with other data management systems is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including effective presentation skills to all levels of the organization
  • Willingness to travel to company sites as needed post-pandemic is a plus
