Employee Benefits Consultant

We’re looking for an Employee Benefits specialist with leave of absence and disability management experience to join our team!

The Employee Benefits Consultant will support a dedicated large national account client working collaboratively with members of their benefits team to perform a variety of project management and strategic planning activities in the administration of employee benefits programs. This role will support our client with vendor management and end-to-end administration of Life, Disability (STD, LTD, VDI), Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits, and Leave of Absence Management.

This regular, full-time position may allow a remote work arrangement for the right candidate or could be based out of any of our hubs including Chicago, Orlando, or Boston.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as mentor and resource to client’s team members specific to absence management
  • Provide valued-added consulting expertise on large, sophisticated Absence and Disability Management projects
  • Establish strong relationships with employees, internal resources, and vendor partners to drive success for benefit programs and support the day-to-day need of the client.
  • Partner with benefits vendors to monitor performance guarantees with respect to established customer service measures and ensure vendor performance is aligned with client expectations and execution of program commitments are provided.
  • Act as a project manager and subject matter expert on assigned benefits programs to support the development of communications, educational materials, and training sessions.
  • Partners with client’s team to manage the accommodations process working closely with employees, vendor(s) and internal stakeholders.
  • Partners with client’s team to ensure timely completion of bi-weekly leave of absence payroll for non-production employees, and acts as point of contact for production plant payroll processors.
  • Supports client’s process for incoming inquiries by monitoring /responding to inquiries received through the leave of absence email inbox.
  • Perform audits, analyzing data and reports to ensure proper plan administration and system accuracy. Research, report and respond to any discrepancies to drive them to remediation.
  • Actively support efforts to ensure regulatory compliance of voluntary disability programs, serving as subject matter expert and partner to the client’s team.
  • Consult with client’s team to identify gaps and opportunities for process improvements to work-steams creating efficiencies.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of our clients' Annual Benefits Enrollment.
  • Lead or assists with other benefits projects and specific duties as assigned by Team Leader/Manager.

Candidate Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in Employee Benefits with a focus on the administration of Disability plans and Leave of Absence management.
  • Demonstrates good listening and has the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, effective partnerships and establish credibility with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization through confident communication.
  • Demonstrates good business judgment and creative thinking to anticipate needs, troubleshoot problems, and derive solutions. Shares knowledge and expertise professionally and acts in the best interest of the client’s business.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically to contribute to the Client’s benefits offerings and promote successful, innovative solutions. Comprehensive knowledge of group benefit plans and demonstrated understanding of the administration of benefits processes and programs required.
  • Strong attention to detail with highly developed organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and manage strict deadline and turnaround time requirements.
  • Expected ability to manage highly sensitive information and maintain the confidentiality of benefit issues and information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications required, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Minimal travel required as necessary for company meetings, support of the voluntary benefits program and special projects.
