Client: A business services company headquartered in the southeastern U.S. with 14,000 eligible lives
The client wanted to provide more benefits choice by adding three voluntary benefits. At the same time, the company also made the decision to move from its current benefits administration system to a new cloud-based platform.
The client had concerns that the human resources department would not have the bandwidth to both implement a new benefits administration system and properly introduce three new voluntary benefits (Accident, Critical Illness and Group Legal).
Pacific Resources consulted with the client on both the selection of the new benefits administration system and the new voluntary benefits. We helped the client create customized Accident, Critical Illness and Group Legal offerings focused entirely on the client’s benefit goals, while also working closely with the chosen carrier to develop a communications plan to educate employees on both the new benefits administration system and the new benefits.
All three products went through the Pacific Resources RFP process. The new benefits administration system provided an efficient product implementation process that cut the programming time in half from the time quoted by the previous benefits administration provider and allowed for a more comprehensive communication within the enrollment process, including links to an education page on the client’s intranet and videos to explain the benefits.
The client had a successful overall enrollment with greater active participation than the previous year. In addition, Pacific Resources helped the client conduct a post-open enrollment survey that indicated a much higher level of employee satisfaction with the enrollment process. The take-up of the new benefits was also successful: Accident and Critical Illness participation were both in excess of 17% with Group Legal at just under 12%.
